What (and who) is Francipes?


My name is Fran and I am the founder and primary blogger behind Francipes, my newest endeavor into the world of food blogging. If you were wondering, Francipes comes from the blending of Fran + recipes.

I started my Facebook page in early 2015 as an easy way to share recipes with friends and family - a sort of online cookbook. 2015 was also the perfect year to launch the page because this was around the time that food videos began circulating the internet. To take advantage of this surge, I thought I would not only share my favorite recipes (some of which you have probably seen circulating the Internet, like these pretzel pigs in a blanket), but also include some of my tips and tricks to making the perfect pie crust, or how to prepare the best steak marinade. You could say that Francipes is the Pinterest for food, but with real expectations.

Now let's fast forward to 2016 with the launch of my new website: www.franipes.com! Writing down recipes in a Facebook post was no longer enough: I needed a real place to showcase recipes that I've tried and tested, and to do so in a visually appealing way in order to reach more people and build my audience. With a little trial and error and finally giving into the notion that I needed to spend some money, the website is live and better than I could have ever hoped for, with recipes being posted on a weekly basis. Try out this (not authentic) cacio e pepe pasta recipe, or this lemon cupcake with blackberry buttercream!
